On Wednesday, Fox & Friends host Gretchen Carlson invited retired Air Force colonel and Arizona congressional candidate Martha McSally to the show to discuss where McSally believes the real “war on women” is being waged — not in the U.S., but in places like Kabul.
McSally dismissed the rhetoric surrounding the GOP’s policies toward women — dubbed the “war on women” by politicians and the media alike — as “partisan attacks” and “diversions” from substantive issues. What women in her district are really concerned about, she said, are jobs, affordable health care, and education.
She eschewed criticism that she herself engages in this “war,” adding that she has “been standing up and fighting for women’s rights my whole life,” including taking a stand “against the Pentagon policy that made our U.S. servicewomen wear Muslim garb in Saudi Arabia” and “standing up for women to serve in any capacity in the military.”
