POTR EVENT Thurs NOV 1st with VERNON PARKER, DAVID SCHWEIKERT & DOUG DUCEY

Politics on the Rocks is proud to announce our next networking event featuring United States Congressman David Schweikert, CD9 Candidate Vernon Parker, and State Treasurer Doug Ducey on Thursday, November 1st 6:00 PM at the Montelucia Resort "Centro Lounge" located at 4949 E. Lincoln Dr. in Paradise Valley. Located off the resort’s Kasbah Pool, Centro Lounge is the center of campus gathering spot for Montelucia’s sophisticated and high-energy crowd. Montelucia’s Centro Lounge has transformed into the reimagined space with a fresh and innovative restaurant menu from Executive Chef Michael Cairns. A nine-panel media wall with indoor seating and lounge clusters expand in to the outdoor space. Enjoy the views of Camelback Mountain, gather around the fire pits and enjoy the Scottsdale Lifestyle. We appreciate our marketing partners Swiss America, Scottsdale Nights, and Biltmore Graphics.

David Schweikert has been a lifelong Arizona advocate. He was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, and attended Arizona State University where he earned a BA degree in finance and real estate and his MBA in 2005. David is serving his first term in the United States House of Representatives representing Arizona’s 5th district and serves on the Financial Services Committee. Prior to being elected to the 112th Congress, David served as Treasurer of Maricopa County in 2004. As Treasurer of one of the largest counties in the United States, David was responsible for protecting billions of taxpayer dollars and earning over $300 million in investment income while never showing a deficit despite a tough economic environment.

Vernon B. Parker is a rising star in the national Republican Party and is currently running for United States Congressman in CD9. Raised by his grandmother in a severely underprivileged neighborhood, Parker was able to escape the drugs and violence of his environment through love, education, and hard work. Parker is the personification of the American Dream. He was able to escape poverty by putting himself through college and law school. Parker and his wife, Lisa, seek now to instill the same qualities in their own children as they come of age in one of the most challenging economic times in our history. He was recently elected to serve a second term on the Paradise Valley Town Council. Parker served as Paradise Valley’s Mayor from 2008-2010. His upbringing taught a few things about living on a budget, and when the Great Recession hit no town was spared. He cut spending by 30%, reduced staff and streamlined government. Previously, he served as Special Assistant to President George H. W. Bush. Parker was also nominated by President George W. Bush and unanimously confirmed with bipartisan support by the United States Senate, as an Assistant Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture.

Doug Ducey was elected to his first term as Arizona State Treasurer on November 2, 2010. He took office January 3, 2011 as Arizona’s 32nd State Treasurer. As Arizona’s Chief Banker and Investment Officer, Treasurer Ducey oversees more than $10.5 billion in state assets and serves as an investment manager for local governments. Treasurer Ducey also serves as the Chairman of Arizona’s State Board of Investment, and State Loan Commission. He also serves as the State’s Surveyor General and is a member of the State Land Selection Board. Doug Ducey was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, but Arizona is Doug's home. It’s where he met his college sweetheart – now wife of 20 years – Angela, and where he has raised his three sons Jack (14), Joe (12), and Sam (8). It is also where Doug built and developed two businesses that created jobs for Arizonans across the state. Doug came to Arizona in 1982 to attend Arizona State University where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Finance in 1986. He worked his way through college at Hensley & Co., the local Anheuser-Busch distributorship. Upon graduation, he joined Procter & Gamble and began a career in sales and marketing. There he was trained in management, preparing him for his role as partner and CEO of Cold Stone Creamery. When he and his business partner sold the company in 2007, Cold Stone had grown from a local scoop shop to more than 1,400 locations in all 50 states and 10 countries. Doug then committed to an entrepreneurial pursuit in Scottsdale where he became the lead investor and Chairman of the Board for iMemories.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday, November 1st 6:00 PM at the Montelucia "Centro Lounge".
